About the role
We are looking for a motivated Education Solicitor, to join our dynamic Litigation team in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take the next step in their career, providing expert legal advice and representation on a wide range of education law matters, including special educational needs (SEN), school admissions and exclusions, safeguarding, and disputes involving local authorities, schools, and parents.
What this role would include
- Advise clients on all aspects of education law, including:
- Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- School admissions and exclusions
- Discrimination and equality issues in education
- Judicial reviews and tribunal representation
- Safeguarding and child protection matters
- Liaise with local authorities, schools, and other stakeholders.
- Draft legal documents, including pre-action letters, witness statements, and tribunal submissions.
- Keep up to date with developments in education law and policy.
What we are looking for
While the following skills and qualifications are beneficial, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement:
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales (3+ years PQE preferred).
- Strong knowledge of education law and public law principles.
- Experience representing clients in tribunals or court proceedings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently and meet deadlines.
